BIO
I am an Indigenous (Kanaka Maoli, Peruvian, Chinese, German) Art Director and Graphic Designer from Honolulu, Hawai‘i, holding a BFA in Graphic Design (Magna Cum Laude) from the Laguna College of Art + Design in Laguna Beach, CA. I am also a proud graduate of the Kamehameha Schools Kapālama Campus and an AIGA Recipient of the Hawai‘i 5-O Award of Excellence for Print & Environmental Design (2011).
As the third generation of formally trained Graphic Designers in my ‘ohana, I grew up around the creative arts and was exposed to the design industry from a very young age. My father, Darryl Lee Soon, is the Creative Director of Envision International, a Hawai‘i design consultancy with a focus on environmental graphics and signage. My granduncle was Tom Lee, a renowned Graphic Designer who established Tom Lee Design, the first graphic design firm in Hawaiʻi and is remembered for his design contributions which include logo designs for First Hawaiian Bank and the Honolulu Board of Water Supply.
With a focus on corporate identity and branding, I have worked with a diverse range of organizations and businesses to create, refresh, and maintain brand integrity through elevated print and digital touch points. I am well versed in creating deliverables for activations (conventions, concerts, tradeshows, fundraisers, pop-up events). I enjoy analyzing workflows (project & creative team management) and creating efficient production & pre-press processes. I enjoy mentoring junior creatives and believe we can always learn from each other, regardless of how long we have worked in the design field.
